Aerial Drift Mock Trial & The Ins and Outs of H2A

The NAAA General Session will be held Tuesday, Nov. 19 and will feature a mock trial presented by the law firm of Anderson & Riddle, LLP. The attorneys at Anderson & Riddle have been representing aerial applicators in all types of matters for over 31 years. Founding partner Geff Anderson handled his first drift claim in 1993. Partner Jim Kiser has represented aerial applicators for several years. The mock trial will present a direct and cross-examination of a pilot and an expert witness in an aerial drift case.
Anderson has substantial experience in trials and appeals in the state and federal courts of Texas. He has also represented clients in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Washington as well as lead counsel on Appeal to the 5th, 6th, and 8th Circuits of the United States of America. His practice includes complex commercial litigation, product liability, aviation as well as catastrophic personal injury and death cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants.
Kiser’s litigation experience includes a federal jury trial, arising from a fatal airplane crash, involving numerous causes of action against a general aviation aircraft manufacture, bench trials involving real property deed restrictions and representing a client before an administrative law judge to successfully appeal a state agency decision. Litigating probate matters and litigating contract disputes, including non-compete, real property, and service agreement matters are also some of Jim’s specialties. In addition, since the fall of 2014, Kiser has served as an adjunct professor at the Texas A&M School of Law.
Manuel Fick, Founder and Owner for USA Farm Labor
The General Session will also feature a segment focused on the H2A Program. Manuel Fick is the founder and owner of USA Farm Labor, an H2A agency Director of the Farm Labor Contractor Department for USA Farm Labor. Manuel Fick and his wife Kathy immigrated to the United States, and after arriving, they witnessed the agricultural labor shortage threatening farms across the country. Given their connections back in South Africa, they realized they were perfectly placed to serve American farmers and help workers from their home country find new opportunities through seasonal farm jobs.
In 2003, Manuel and Kathy started USA Farm Labor, Inc. (then called PLUTO, Inc.) and their vision became a reality. Since then, USA Farm Labor, Inc. has become one of the largest H-2A specialists in the country. Every year, USA Farm Labor, Inc. helps hundreds of employers and thousands of workers with all aspects of the H-2A Program.
